Applied methods to solve non-stationary problems of mechanics

Motivation:  The aim of the course is to provide the participants with the most general approaches capable to solve and analyse various dynamical problems of classical mechanics and micromechanics. Any method of choice can be easily implemented with the use of modern computer algebra systems. The topics discussed give a deeper insight into formulated problems, allowing for the intuitive perception of mechanical phenomena.    Contents:

  • Finite integral transformations method to solve non-stationary problems: generalization of the classical procedure of eigenfunction decomposition
  • Variable interval method: an extension of the Ritz method for non-stationary problems
  • Waves in a media with microstructure: method of Green’s functions

Dates: The course is given as a block seminar in July by Dr. Babenkov in a four-week period. In the first lecture on Wednesday, 03.07., at 08:30–10:00 in the room MS 307, the procedure of the course is detailed. We will try to find appointments that are suitable for all students. In total there will be 30 hours of lectures distributed over four weeks so that there are four lectures per week.
